OVERVIEW
"Wubby's World", also codenamed "WubbyWorld" is a Text-based RPG for PC released by Ubisoft Gary in 2001, following the release of their "Horse games" collection, and the commercial failure of "Play with Bitsby!". The game is quite the departure from their usual work, as it is said that zero(?) horses featured in the game. There were only ever 12(?) copies ever made of the game, one of which went to Gary himself.
PLOT
You play as the titular "Wubby", who awakes one day to hear that the "Spire" is being overtaken by Ybbuw, Wubby's Evil half. It is your job to quest all the way to the spire and save WubbyWorld from destruction and madness.
There are multiple endings to WubbyWorld, primarily a Good and Bad ending. These endings are chosen by your actions in the game, which contribute to your "Sin" meter. The events of each ending aren't fully known, but some lore hints are dropped that reveal intriguing lore details, such as Mob's chronic depression, and Ybbuw's hidden ancestory. It's unknown which ending is canon, and when questioned on the subject Steven G. Wubs, Wubbyworld's writer, would run away really fast and yell "OVER MY DECAYING CORPSE!"
GAMEPLAY
"WubbyWorld's gameplay is not fully known, as no copies have entered circulation. What we know comes from old forum posts and reviews of the game. Gameplay would consist of exploration, collection, and puzzle-solving, with turn-based enemy combat. Wubby would utilize Skills and Attacks with the power of MANA/MP, the game's energy system. Some images of gameplay also imply a date and weather system, as well as a "SIN" meter, which could affect which areas/endings you get (See Wubby in Hell).
Combat
Enemy combat in WubbyWorld appears to take place in a first-person POV shot where you enter the world of the titular "Wubby" and face your foes head-on. On the right are your various meters like your Health, MP/MANA, and Mood. The middle of the hud displays a "Wub-Omitor" (Likely a misspelling of "Wub-Ometor" displaying wubby's various emotions, similar to the icon of the iconic dating simulator "Doom (1993)". The left of the hud contains your options, consisting of "ATACK" (Attack), SKILL, "ITEM", "SPEAK", and "RUN." ATACKing seems to require you to spam the "Z" button on your keyboard to deal maximum damage as wubby's POV punches the baddies into last week.
The top of your HUD's purpose seems to be interchangeable, as multiple screenshots show it displaying text and enemy names/statuses interchangeably. It's safe to call this an "Info" section, atleast, we think. The right of the screen showcases your SIN meter, which is heavily theorized to be determined by which enemies you choose to kill or negotiate with, theoretically with the "SPEAK" option, similar to games like "Blundertale" and "Shin Megami Tensei", in which you can spare/negotiate with enemies and ghouls and goblins by speaking to them and soothing their souls.
Graphics
WubbyWorld's utilizes an avant-garde, amateurish photobash artstyle, mixing live-action footage with pre-rendered 3d backgrounds and assets, somewhat similar to games like Hong-Kong 97 and Mortal Kombat. The game's graphical interface contains minimal color and a variety of Serif fonts for text and buttons. Some have described it as "Jarring" and "Unsettling.", but to me? It feels like home.
Unused Content
Despite our limited knowledge of the game, we are aware of some cut content that didn't make it into the final game.
